One very recent development from bigHead is the bigHead-JackNut® fixing.
As with many requests we receive this fixing was developed to solve a specific problem, how to affix into a single skin of a composite foam-filled sandwich panel without the requirement for bonding. The fixing also needed to be capable of spreading applied loads onto a very thin substrate (3mm thick), should permit installation into the finished composite panel with access from one side only and without the need for any specialised install criterion.
bigHeads' solution was to take an already successful fixing solution for thin, lightweight materials, the 'JackNut®' and marry this technology with that of a bigHead. The result below clearly illustrates how bigHead's versatile, flexible manufacturing capabilities and approach to problem solving has many facets. JackNut® is a registered trademark of Emhart Teknologies.
Combining bigHead technology with that of the JackNut® brings the following features to the end-user:
- Capable of being installed from one side of the panel
- Fastens into blind holes
- Fastens securely despite burrs or uneven substrate
- Hole size tolerant
- Provides large 'open-side' bearing area
- Provides large 'blindside' bearing area
- Will not distort or deform soft plastics or thin sheet
- Capable of accommodating a wide grip range
- Can be set with manual or pneumatic tool
- Available in Mild Steel + BZP only & in sizes M4, M5 & M6 Metric coarse thread form
